چکیده

Background Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee is a common degenerative and chronic disease as well major cause pain functional disability. Alterations in lower extremity biomechanics may lead adaptive changes walking, foot pressure distribution, muscle strength architectural characteristics ankle muscles patients with OA. Objectives The aim this study was to compare architecture distribution differences OA healthy individuals. Methods Twenty (mean age= 53.35±1.21 years, mean BMI=31.69±0.93 kg/m2) twenty controls 51.05±0.63 BMI=29.28±1.15 were included study. Rectus Femoris (RF), Vastus Medialis (VM), Peronalis Longus (PL) Medial Gastrocnemius (MG) thickness, pennation angle fat thickness evaluated using B-Mode ultrasonography (Esaote MyLab X8 eXP Ultrasound System, Florence, Italy). images analyzed offline an image analysis software (Image J, National Institutes Health, Bethesda, MD, USA) program. Ankle rotation changes and its influences in knee osteoarthritis

Background : Biomechanical factors are known to be important in knee osteoarthritis (OA) development and progression. This study was designed to determine changes of hamstrings muscle activation, knee adduction moment and ankle rotation angle in two knee osteoarthritis (mild and moderate) and a healthy control group.   Methods: 16 females (10 with mild and 6 with moderate medial knee osteoart...

The association between gout and radiographic hand, knee and foot osteoarthritis: a cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND Gout is the most common type of inflammatory arthritis and is largely managed in primary care. It classically affects the first metatarsophalangeal joint and distal peripheral joints, whereas the axial joints are typically spared. The reason for this particular distribution is not well understood, however, it has been suggested that osteoarthritis (OA) may be the key factor. One hypo...

Lateral Trunk Motion and Knee Pain in Osteoarthritis of the Knee: a cross-sectional study

BACKGROUND Patients with osteoarthritis of the knee may change their gait in an attempt to reduce loading of the affected knee, thereby reducing pain. Especially changes in lateral trunk motion may be potentially effective, since these will affect the position of the centre of mass relative to the knee, enabling minimization of the load on the knee and thereby knee pain. The aim of the study wa...

Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the Persian Version of the Oxford Knee Score in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis

Background: The Oxford Knee Score (OKS) is a short patient-reported outcome instrument that measures pain and physical activity related to knee osteoarthritis. The purpose of this study is to evaluate, construct validity and consistent reliability of the Persian version of the OKS.Methods: The case series consisted of 80 patients who were clinically diagnosed with having knee osteoarthritis. Al...

Kinematics of Hip, Knee and Ankle During Cross- Slope Walking

Purpose: Little information is available on joint kinematic adaptations during walking on cross-slope surfaces (i.e. a surface incline perpendicular to the direction of locomotion). This study aimed to evaluate the effects of cross-slope surfaces on three-dimensional (3D) kinematics of hip, knee, and ankle joints during stance phase of walking.  Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study...
